What type of tarpaulin do I need for my boat?
The tarpaulin you need to cover your boat will depend on a variety of factors such as what size of tarpaulin you require, the level of protection that you need and your budget – for example, our Monotex tarpaulin has a higher gsm than our topgrade tarpaulin and may be more suitable for heavier duty use, whereas our flame retardant flexi tarp expert may be useful if there is a fire risk. We also stock budget tarpaulins if you need something a little cheaper, as well as a variety of different coloured tarpaulins and even camo tarps in case you require your boat to blend in with woodland and so on.
Why do I need a tarpaulin as a boat cover?
A boat can represent a significant investment, so keeping it safe via adequate protection is a must. Using tarpaulin boat covers can protect your pride and joy from UV rays, dirt, debris and the elements as a whole, such as rain. This helps to reduce your maintenance costs considerably, making a tarp a great cost saving measure. Also, if you are using a boat cover, you can keep your interior dry and free from mildew.
How do I secure my boat cover correctly?
To ensure your tarpaulin boat cover stays in place and effectively protects your boat, you will need to use one of the following accessories to keep it where it is:
· Rope
· Adjustable straps
· Bungee cords
· The popular MIDI holdon, that we also stock here at Tarpaulins Direct
Whatever item you choose to secure your cover, make sure that it is secured tightly. Spread the boat cover evenly over the boat itself, and watch out for water pooling on the surface of the tarpaulin – which can cause it to sag or become damaged. Make sure you regularly check your boat cover for signs of wear and tear, and make adjustments as necessary.
